Asaram Bapu, the controversial spiritual guru serving a life sentence for rape charges, has been granted relief by the Rajasthan High Court. The court has allowed him to undergo Ayurvedic treatment in Pune due to his deteriorating health and heart problems.
The decision was made by judges P.S. Bhati and Munnari Laxman after hearing his plea. Asaram Bapu had previously requested 14 days of parole in March, but the court had denied his petition at that time.
The Pune police had expressed concerns about potential law-and-order issues if Asaram Bapu was kept in the hospital, leading to the court’s decision for him to receive treatment in Pune’s jail instead. The spiritual guru will now receive the necessary medical care in Pune as per the court’s orders.
