Good news for residents of Yerwada! The long-awaited solution to traffic congestion at Shastrinagar Chowk is finally on the horizon. Thanks to MLA Sunil Tingre’s efforts, the Pune Municipal Corporation has given the green light to a new flyover and subway project in the area.

The subway at Shastrinagar Chowk will have six tiers, with three lanes for vehicles heading to Nagar Road Kharadi and three lanes for those going towards Pune. The estimated cost for this project is ₹37 crores. Additionally, a two-tiered flyover will be built for vehicles coming from Kharadi and Vimannagar, with a budget of ₹26 crores.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed the municipal commissioner to prioritize and kickstart these projects, with a total budget of ₹97 crores approved by the municipality’s Estimate Committee. These infrastructure enhancements are part of broader efforts to tackle the increasing traffic problems in Pune.

With the removal of the BRT system from Yerwada to Viman Nagar already providing relief to motorists, the upcoming construction of the flyover and subway at Shastrinagar Chowk is expected to further improve traffic flow. Additionally, a double-decker flyover from Shirur to Ramwadi is in the works to make Ahmednagar Road signal-free in the near future.

Sunil Tingre, MLA of Vadgaon Sheri, expressed his excitement about the projects, stating that they will be a significant step towards solving traffic issues in the area. With construction set to begin before the upcoming assembly elections, residents can look forward to smoother commutes in the near future.
