In recent news from Pune, a 17-year-old boy involved in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two young IT engineers has completed a 15-day safe driving training program at the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO). The teenager, who is the son of a well-known builder in the city, underwent the training as per the conditions set by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) after the incident.

According to sources, the teenager attended the training sessions at the RTO discreetly and completed the program around 22-23 days ago. An RTO official, who chose to remain anonymous, mentioned that privacy was strictly maintained for the teenager throughout the training process.

The fatal accident took place on May 19 in Kalyaninagar when the teenager, driving his Porsche Taycan back home after a night out at pubs in Mundhwa, collided with a bike, resulting in the death of both riders. The JJB granted the minor bail with certain conditions, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety and participating in the 15-day training program at the RTO. Additionally, the RTO imposed a ban on him obtaining a driving license until he reaches the age of 25.

During his training at the RTO, the teenager learned about various aspects of road safety and vehicle management. The official mentioned that he showed a keen interest in understanding road safety rules and practical safe driving techniques.

After the initial bail order by the JJB, Pune police requested a review of the decision, leading to the teenager’s temporary detention at an observation home. However, his aunt filed a petition with the Bombay High Court, which on June 25 ordered his release from the observation home while upholding the conditions set by the JJB, including the completion of the safe driving training program.
