Hey there, Pune folks! Did you get caught in the heavy downpour that hit the city on Sunday evening? Well, if you did, you’re not alone. Lonavala and WadgaonSheri got the worst of it, with over 100 mm of rainfall each. And it looks like the rain is not letting up anytime soon, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for more moderate rainfall over the next few days.

The heavy rain caused chaos on the roads, with waterlogged streets in Yerwada, Balewadi, Hadapsar, and more. Solapur Road was a nightmare for commuters, with around 50 vehicles stuck in a narrow lane. People were quick to blame the PMC and the traffic police for the mess.

Flooding was also a big issue in areas like Pashan, Balewadi, and Baner. The Konark Nagar housing society in Vimannagar even had water from an overflowing drain seep into their homes. The PMC’s disaster management team received 35 complaints of waterlogging along Solapur and Satara roads. Plus, there were reports of a tree falling and a short circuit on FC Road.

But hey, it’s not all bad news! The rain did wonders for Pune’s dams, with Khadakwasla, Varasgaon, Temghar, and Panshet all getting a good refill. The collective storage is now at a healthy 97.27%, with 28.35 TMC of water by Monday morning.

So, stay safe out there, Pune peeps! And don’t forget your umbrellas and rain boots. Looks like we’re in for a wet week ahead.
