Market Yard in Pune saw a boost in the arrival of vegetables from the Pune division on 19th August 2024, thanks to the recent rains. This led to a decrease in prices for various vegetables such as okra, guar, cucumber, brinjal, moringa, flat beans, and common beans. Overall, the arrival of fruits and vegetables also increased compared to the previous week, with traders reporting stable prices for other produce.

Yesterday, a total of 100 truckloads of fruits and vegetables made their way to the wholesale market at Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard in Pune. The produce came from both within and outside the state, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat.

Senior trader Vilas Bhujbal shared that from these regions, there were significant arrivals of green chillies, cabbage, lima beans, common beans, moringa, carrots, peanuts, and garlic. Additionally, a large quantity of Satari ginger, okra, guar, tomatoes, green chillies, and capsicum arrived from the Pune Division, along with various other vegetables from areas like Purandar, Parner, Wai, and Satara. Potatoes from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh also made their way to the market.

Prices for leafy vegetables saw a slight increase due to higher demand, with rates for coriander, fenugreek, dill leaves, spring onions, white goosefoot, mint, and green sorrel rising. On the other hand, prices for safflower, sorrel, radish, amaranth leaves, and spinach remained stable.

In the fruit market, there was a rise in prices for papaya and lemons, while chicoo and guava prices fell. The rates for pineapple, pomegranate, sweet lemon, orange, watermelon, muskmelon, and custard apple remained steady. A substantial amount of various fruits arrived at Pune Market Yard yesterday, including sweet lemon, oranges, pomegranate, papaya, lemons, watermelon, muskmelon, chicoo, guava, and custard apple.
