PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh recently spoke at the launch of the Navi Disha initiative, highlighting its importance in empowering women at the grassroots level. He emphasized that the program goes beyond just operations, serving as a movement to give women a platform to voice their concerns and contribute to their community’s well-being. Singh expressed his commitment to addressing their issues and supporting their growth.

In addition to the “Coffee with Commissioner” sessions, Singh announced the launch of the Navi Disha evaluation series, an annual program where health officials will inspect community toilets and upgrade facilities as needed.

During a closed-door meeting, women from different zones of the city shared their challenges and opportunities. Lata Rokade, a participant from the G zone ‘Bharari mahila bachat gat’, praised the initiative for giving them a voice and bridging the gap between the administration and self-help groups. Rajashri Vetale also appreciated the support from the Commissioner, stating that it motivates them to continue their work.

The “Coffee with Commissioner” sessions will be held twice a month, allowing women’s groups from various zones to interact with the Commissioner. The initiative aims to speed up administrative interventions, boost confidence, and provide opportunities for skill enhancement and income generation for Navi Disha women.
