Pune Airport is stepping up its game when it comes to passenger safety with the introduction of new medical facilities in its terminal building. Here are some key features you need to know about:

1. Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs): These life-saving devices have been strategically placed throughout the terminal in key areas such as the arrival and departure areas, near check-in counters, and in the security hold areas. AEDs deliver electric shocks to restore normal heart rhythms during sudden cardiac arrests.

2. Medical Emergency Room: Operated in partnership with Ruby Hall Clinic, this room is staffed 24/7 by a doctor and a nurse to provide free medical services to passengers in need. Located conveniently in the check-in area, it ensures prompt care during emergencies.

3. Ease of Use for AEDs: The AED machines are portable, lightweight, and equipped with voice instructions to guide users through the steps required to operate the device. This makes them accessible even to non-medical personnel.

Additional measures include an on-site ambulance positioned on the city side of the airport to handle medical emergencies efficiently.

Recent emergency responses at other airports highlight the importance of such facilities, with successful revivals of passengers who suffered sudden cardiac arrests. Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke emphasized the significance of these additions, stating that they significantly enhance the airport’s ability to respond to health emergencies swiftly. The priority remains ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers.
