Hey folks, here’s a juicy piece of news for you! An inmate serving a life sentence for murder managed to pull off a daring escape from Yerawada Central Jail in Pune. But don’t worry, the authorities were quick to catch up with him.

The escapee in question is Raju Pandharinath Dusane, a 43-year-old resident of Vaijapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He was behind bars for murdering his wife back in 2021, and was actually moved to the Yerwada Open Jail earlier this year for his supposed ‘good behaviour.’

When the guards at the prison realized Dusane was missing during attendance check, panic ensued. A case was immediately registered at Yerawada Police Station, and a hunt was on to track down the runaway criminal.

Luckily, a vigilant team from Market Yard Police Station was on patrol in the area. Thanks to the quick thinking of Women Police Constable Yashoda Ved Pathak, who spotted Dusane acting suspiciously near Maharashtra Warehousing Corporation in Market Yard, the fugitive was nabbed without much drama.

After some vague answers during questioning, Dusane eventually spilled the beans about his escape. He was then handed over to the authorities at Yerawada Police Station, with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5), Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wanowrie Division), Senior Police Inspector, and the commendable Women Police Constable all playing a role in bringing him to justice.

Phew, what a rollercoaster of a story! Stay tuned for more updates on this gripping tale of an escape and capture in our very own Yerawada.
