Residents of the NIBM Annexe area in Pune are facing a major issue with missing streetlights in their locality. Jaymala Dhankikar, director of the NIBM Annexe Residents Forum, has been tirelessly trying to get the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to address the problem, but to no avail. Despite multiple requests, the PMC has not taken any concrete steps to resolve the issue.

The missing streetlights are causing safety concerns for residents, especially women who feel unsafe commuting in the dark. The problem extends from Nine Hills To Elina Living, Raheja Vista Circle To Raheja Premiere, and even Marvel Sangria To Corinthians Club road. Even when the poles have fittings, they are often non-functional, leaving the area in total darkness.

Manisha Shekatkar, an officer from the Electrical Department of PMC, has promised to send engineers to assess the situation and improve the lighting in the region. She mentioned that funds were allocated in the budget 2024 and they have just received financial approval recently. While resolving the issue may take some time, she assured residents that she will do her best to address it as soon as possible.

Residents are hopeful that the PMC will take swift action to ensure their safety and well-being in the NIBM Annexe area. Let’s hope that the authorities fulfill their promises and make the necessary improvements to the street lighting system in the region.
