As the monsoon season continues to bring heavy rainfall to various parts of Maharashtra, the districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are now on high alert. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for these Konkan districts, warning residents to be prepared for extreme weather conditions.

In addition to these districts, an orange alert has been issued for Central Maharashtra and Vidarbha, including regions like Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Akola, and Amravati. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in these areas, as well as in Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, and Kolhapur. Parts of Vidarbha, such as Akola, Buldhana, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, and Wardha, are also under a yellow alert.

To manage the increased water levels due to the heavy rainfall, major dams in the region have started releasing water. Ujani Dam, Varasgaon Dam, and Panshet Dam have all increased their discharge rates to prevent overflow and manage flood risk.

Mumbai, Palghar, and Thane are also expected to experience heavy rainfall, with the intensity likely to rise throughout the day. An orange alert has been issued for these areas as well, advising residents to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel.

Residents across these regions are urged to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions as the situation continues to develop. Stay safe and stay informed!
