Alright folks, big news coming out of Pune today! The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has finally gotten the green light to start hiring for 407 new positions. This is a huge step for the authority as they aim to strengthen their workforce and become more efficient in serving the Pune metropolitan area.

For years, PMRDA has been relying heavily on temporary and contractual staff to fill important roles. This has led to concerns about bribery and inefficiency within the organization. But now, with the approval of the Service Access Rules, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) will be overseeing the recruitment process for A and B category positions.

The recruitment process is expected to take about a year, with the MPSC handling the higher-level positions and District Selection Committees taking care of the C and D category roles. Employees who were previously part of the Navnagar Development Authority and joined PMRDA following the merger will also be considered for promotion.

There have been complaints about the performance of contract employees in PMRDA, especially in the encroachment and engineering departments. Recently, the chief minister took action by dismissing 16 junior engineers and assigning IPS officer Amol Tambe to address the issues. This has caused some concern among other employees who fear potential disciplinary actions.

With the recruitment of nearly 400 new employees, PMRDA hopes to reduce their reliance on contractual staff and improve their operational efficiency. However, certain roles, like constables and assistants, will still be filled on a contractual basis. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
