The Camp area of Pune is currently facing a major sewage issue that has resulted in flooding on the streets near the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and the Grand Hotel on MG Road. The foul smell and increase in mosquitoes have made the entire area unpleasant for residents.

The owner of the Grand Hotel, Bhojraj Belani, has been complaining about the problem for the past few weeks, but no action has been taken. Belani highlighted the recurring issue of sewage on the roads, which poses a threat to public health and creates a hazardous environment. Residents are now resorting to wearing masks to combat the strong stench.

In an attempt to address the problem, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) ordered a jetting machine for Rs 1,000. However, reports indicate that the machine has not been effective in clearing the blockage. Despite complaints to the Pune Cantonment Board, there has been no response to the issue.

Belani criticized the inadequate work done to resolve the problem, noting that extensive excavation has been carried out without any explanation. Efforts to contact the health inspector of the Pune Cantonment Board, Pramod Kadam, have also been unsuccessful.

The situation in Camp highlights the urgent need for authorities to take action and resolve the sewage problem to ensure the well-being of residents and maintain a clean environment in the area.
