Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Sh. Murlidhar Mohol recently paid a visit to AAI’s Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur to review its growth and discuss new opportunities and challenges. The airport is set to undergo a major expansion with the addition of 16 new check-in counters, bringing the total to 50 to accommodate 3,000 passengers during peak hours.

The expansion, covering an area of 4,000 sqm, is expected to cost Rs 25 crore and be completed by March 2025. The aim is to reduce check-in and security screening times for travelers while enhancing security with additional metal detectors, X-ray machines, and designated retail space.

The new check-in counters will be located in the renovated arrival hall of the old terminal building, which will be transformed into an expanded departure hall connecting with the new terminal building. This development follows the recent opening of the New Integrated Terminal Building on July 14.
