Pune residents are fed up with the never-ending traffic congestion in the city, especially during festivals like Dahi Handi. With main streets and major roads clogged due to celebrations, people are struggling to get from point A to point B without getting stuck in a traffic jam.

In response to the chaos, BJP State spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar is calling on Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to come up with a solid plan for managing traffic during the upcoming Ganeshotsav. Khardekar believes that a well-thought-out strategy is needed to prevent the gridlock that plagued the city during Dahi Handi.

During the recent festivities, Pune residents found themselves trapped in a maze of road closures and barricades, making it nearly impossible to navigate the city streets. Khardekar likened the experience to the “Chakravyuha” from the Mahabharata, where people were left stranded with no way out.

As Ganeshotsav draws nearer, Khardekar is urging the police commissioner to consider banning four-wheelers in central areas to ease the flow of traffic. He also stressed the importance of planning for the entire city, rather than just certain areas, to ensure that residents are not left stranded in traffic jams.

Overall, Khardekar is pushing for a more thoughtful approach to traffic management during festivals, one that prioritizes the convenience of ordinary citizens and minimizes unnecessary road closures. Hopefully, with proper planning and coordination, Pune residents can look forward to a smoother and less chaotic Ganeshotsav this year.
