Hey there, eco-conscious citizens of PCMC! Are you gearing up for Ganeshotsav celebrations this year? Well, before you start planning, make sure to check out these guidelines from the PCMC to ensure you’re celebrating in an environmentally friendly way.

First things first, say goodbye to POP idols! The production of Plaster of Paris idols is banned in the PCMC jurisdiction. Only eco-friendly idols made from natural, biodegradable materials are allowed. So, artisans and producers, it’s time to get creative with clay and other sustainable materials.

If you’re planning to set up a stall to sell Ganesh idols, you’ll need to obtain permission from the Industries and Licensing Department of PCMC. Make sure to prominently display the permit at your shop or stall to show that you’re following the rules.

When it comes to immersing the idols, remember to do so in artificial ponds or tanks within residential complexes or take them to municipal idol acceptance centers. Let’s keep our water bodies clean and free from harmful materials like plastic, thermocol, and staples.

Artisans using eco-friendly clay will be provided with free clay on a first-come, first-served basis (subject to availability). Don’t forget to display a sign outside your stall indicating that you’re offering eco-friendly idols.

Citizens, support PCMC-approved artisans, suppliers, and vendors who have pledged to follow these guidelines. And remember, violations will not be taken lightly – action will be taken under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and other regulations.

Let’s celebrate Ganeshotsav in a sustainable and responsible way, keeping our environment and future generations in mind. Happy celebrations!
