Hey there, folks! It’s Sumit Singh here with some breaking news from Wakad. Another hit-and-run incident has come to light, this time in Pimpri Chinchwad. A pedestrian was tragically killed when a black Thar car collided with him while he was crossing the road near Shani Mandir Road in Wakad. The incident took place in the wee hours of Monday, May 27th.

The victim, Angad Shivyogya Giri, hailing from Navi Mumbai, lost his life in the accident. The driver of the car, Vedant Nagendra Rai, also from Navi Mumbai, has been identified and a case has been registered against him at the Hinjewadi Police Station.

According to reports, Giri and his friend were waiting at a bus stop when he suddenly needed to use the restroom. While crossing the service road of the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, the speeding Thar hit him, causing fatal injuries.

The Hinjewadi Police have taken action and registered a case against the driver under various sections of the IPC and the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigating officer, Police Sub-Inspector Jhol, is looking into the matter.

Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiyya Thorat stated that the driver, Vedant Rai, has been detained and initial investigations suggest that he was not under the influence of alcohol. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
