Hey there, folks! It’s your friendly neighborhood journalist here with some news straight out of Pune. A 26-year-old cab driver found himself in hot water after allegedly assaulting a college student during a ride from New Sangvi to Koregaon Park. Yikes!

The driver, Rahul Mhaske, apparently took a detour towards Dehu Road and started misbehaving with the student. Thankfully, she managed to escape and make it home safely with the help of an autorickshaw driver. Kudos to her quick thinking!

The police were on the case and were able to track down the driver through some nifty technical investigation. The student, who hails from outside Maharashtra and is studying for her post-graduation in the city, was brave enough to report the incident to the authorities.

During the investigation, the student was assisted by an interpreter since she only speaks her mother tongue and English. She provided all the necessary details, including the cab’s registration number and the route taken by the driver. Talk about being thorough!

The driver, who claimed he needed to refill gas, is now in police custody for further questioning. It turns out he had no prior criminal record and was driving a friend’s cab from Lonavla. Looks like he’s got some explaining to do!

So, folks, always be vigilant and trust your instincts when it comes to your safety. And kudos to the student for standing up and speaking out against this unacceptable behavior. Stay safe out there, Pune!
