Today in Camp, Pune, members of the Mahavikas Aghadi and INDI Alliance came together to protest against the Maharashtra State Government and the Central Government. The protest was sparked by the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue at Rajkot Fort in Malvan, Sindhudurg, due to heavy rains.

Key opposition figures in Pune, including Kasba Peth MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, Arvind Shinde from the Indian National Congress, Sanjay More from Shiv Sena, and Prashant Jagtap from the Nationalist Congress Party, were present at the protest. Slogans such as “Not the statue, the identity collapsed” and “No pardon for a traitor of Shiva” were chanted as the protesters demanded the resignations of top government officials.

Sanjay More of Shiv Sena criticized the BJP for disrespecting Shivaji Maharaj and demanded immediate resignations from the government. Prashant Jagtap of NCP-SP questioned how a statue could collapse due to a 45 km/h wind and accused Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis of playing politics. Arvind Shinde of Congress called for action against those responsible for the statue’s collapse.

The protest highlighted the frustration and anger of the opposition members towards the government’s handling of the situation. As tensions continue to rise, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to these demands for accountability.
