Hey there, folks! So, the long-debated issue of the Purandar airport seems to be finally making some progress. According to recent reports, the government has decided to go ahead with building the airport on the old site.

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Muralidhar Mohol, has confirmed this decision, stating that the proposed airport will be constructed on the original site, as approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. A meeting of all relevant agencies, including the Airports Authority of India and the Maharashtra Airport Development Company, is scheduled to take place in the coming days to inspect the location.

Furthermore, Mohol mentioned that the process of land acquisition for the airport will also kick off soon. The proposal for the Purandar Airport was initially submitted by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation back in 2018, with the old site being finalized during the previous government’s tenure.

However, due to some technical difficulties and changes in the government in 2021, the proposal was put on hold. It was only in 2023 that the proposal was resubmitted, and now, with the approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, it looks like the Purandar airport project is back on track.

Exciting times ahead for Purandar, as it gears up to welcome a new airport on its soil! Stay tuned for more updates on this development.
