Tragedy struck a family near Theur Phata, Pune, on Sunday afternoon when a 36-year-old sales tax inspector and his 62-year-old father were killed in a head-on collision with a dumper truck. The incident, which took place around 3:15 PM in the Ganeshwadi area of Theur, left three other family members injured.

The victims have been identified as Abhijit Suresh Pawar, the sales tax inspector, and his father, Suresh Prabhakar Pawar, a retired government officer. The family, originally from Shrigonda taluka in Ahmednagar district, was residing in Wagholi, Pune. Abhijit’s wife, mother, and son were also injured in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at a Pune hospital.

Reports suggest that Abhijit was driving a Maruti Suzuki Baleno Car when the collision occurred with the dumper truck. Unfortunately, Abhijit died at the scene, while his father passed away while receiving treatment at the hospital. The driver of the dumper truck initially fled the scene but was later arrested. The driver, identified as Sandesh Laxmanrao Pawar, has been charged with rash driving and causing death by negligence.

Abhijit Pawar had been working at the state sales tax office in Yerawada since 2013. The family was on their way to visit a relative who had recently been admitted to an engineering college in Wagholi when the tragic accident took place. Our thoughts are with the Pawar family during this difficult time.
