Pune Metro is setting the pace in the digital ticketing arena, with an impressive 70% of passengers choosing digital options over cash transactions. This shift not only shows Pune Metro’s commitment to environmental sustainability by reducing paper waste but also demonstrates their leadership in embracing digital technology.

Since the launch of the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi route, daily passenger numbers have seen a significant increase, with an average daily ridership of 118,241 in August 2024. This surge in ridership has resulted in a revenue of Rs 5.69 crore, with an average daily income from ticket sales reaching Rs 18.68 lakh.

The usage patterns on different routes also reflect the popularity of Pune Metro, with 29% of passengers opting for the PCMC to District Court route and 71% choosing the Ramwadi to Vanaj route.

Shravan Hardikar, the Managing Director of Mahametro, expressed his satisfaction with the growth in daily ridership, attributing it to the public’s increasing environmental awareness. He commended Pune residents for their embrace of digital ticketing, stating that the 70% usage rate sets a benchmark for digital ticketing adoption in India.

Overall, the success of Pune Metro in digital ticketing not only showcases their leadership in the country but also signifies the growing trend of digitalization in public transportation.
