With the Ganeshotsav festival just around the corner, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is pulling out all the stops to ensure that the city’s roads are in top condition. After facing criticism for the pothole-ridden streets, the Road Department has stepped in to address the issue.

Over the past nine days, the PMC has managed to fill a whopping 499 potholes, with plans to tackle the remaining ones on important roads in the city within the next two days. Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale has ordered a special pothole-filling campaign leading up to Ganeshotsav and the immersion processions.

Chief Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar revealed that a staggering 2,795 tons of hot mix has been used to fill the potholes, with a total of 6,696 sqm of roads already asphalted between August 26 and September 3. The Road Department is working around the clock to ensure that all major roads are in tip-top shape for the upcoming festivities.

Special attention is being given to roads where the Ganeshotsav processions will pass through, with repair work being prioritized to prevent any disruptions. While most of the repair work has been completed, minor touch-ups are still pending to ensure smooth traffic flow during the celebrations.

Overall, the PMC is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Pune’s roads are safe and smooth for residents and visitors alike during the festive season. With the Road Department’s proactive measures, it looks like Pune’s streets will be pothole-free just in time for Ganeshotsav.
