Hey Pune folks, are you one of the many residents rushing to pay your property taxes before the deadline? Well, you’re not alone! With just two days left to avail of the property tax exemption, Pune residents are making a beeline to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to settle their dues. Today alone, a whopping ₹63.99 crore was deposited by 24,438 citizens, bringing the total property tax collection to ₹900.07 crore.

If you’re wondering why the sudden rush, it’s because the PMC offers a sweet discount for those who pay between April 1st and May 31st. If your property tax bill is under ₹25,000, you get a 10% discount, and if it’s over ₹25,000, you still get a 5% discount. With a total of 14.22 lakh properties under the PMC, they are expecting to collect at least ₹1100 crore by the end of the discount period.

But wait, there’s more good news! Due to delays in bill distribution, the PMC has extended the deadline for availing of the discount by 15 days, until June 15. This means you still have a chance to save some money on your property taxes. So far, only 5.65 lakh citizens have paid their taxes, amounting to ₹973 crores. With the inclusion of new village areas, the PMC is hopeful of crossing the ₹1300 crore mark post-discount.

To make it easier for you to pay, the Citizens Facilitation Centers (CFC) of the PMC will be open from 9 AM to 9 PM until May 31st. So don’t wait till the last minute, head over to the PMC and settle your property taxes to avail of the discounts. And if you prefer, you can always make your payments online. Happy tax-paying, Pune!
