Hey folks, some interesting news coming out of Pune! The Seerat Committee has decided to postpone the Eid-e-Milad procession to September 21 to avoid clashing with the Ganesh Visarjan celebrations. The Ganesh Visarjan culminates on Anant Chaturdashi on September 17, and the Seerat Committee wanted to prevent any potential congestion on the streets.

In addition to the date change, the committee has also put restrictions on the use of DJs, music, dancing, and fireworks during the Eid-e-Milad procession to align with Islamic customs. The General Secretary of the Seerat Committee, Rafiuddin Shaikh, mentioned that the Muslim community will still celebrate Prophet Muhammad’s birthday on September 16, but the procession will now take place on September 21 from 9 am to 2 pm.

Pune City Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, expressed gratitude for the community’s cooperation in making this decision to promote communal harmony. Community leader Haji Zakir Shaikh highlighted that the restrictions are in line with Islamic values, but some local Muslim groups are in talks with the police to potentially have individual processions.

Overall, this postponement aims to maintain peace and cooperation between the two communities during their religious festivities. It’s great to see efforts being made to ensure a harmonious celebration for everyone involved!
