Wagholi, 8th September 2024: Lonikand Police recently foiled a planned murder in Pune, preventing a major crime from taking place. The police arrested seven gang members associated with the Enjoy Group from Hadapsar, Swargate, and Lohianagar. The gang was reportedly plotting to kill Vishal alias Jangalya Satpute, a known criminal, in a premeditated attack.
Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), Himmat Jadhav, and Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad of Lonikand Police Station, Pune City Police, the authorities seized seven country-made pistols and 23 live cartridges during the operation.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shubham alias Mater Anil Jagtap, Sumit Uttareshwar Jadhav, Amit Mhasku Avchare, Omkar alias Bhaiyya Ashok Jadhav, Ajay alias Sagar Balkrishna Hegde, Raj Basavaraj Swamy, and Latikesh Gautam Pol.
The case (Crime Register No. 847/2024) was registered under the Arms Act, Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and Maharashtra Police Act after the gang attempted to attack their rival in the Kolwadi area near Saswad. The police launched an investigation and arrested two key gang members in the Mundhwa area, leading to the apprehension of the other suspects in the Navle Bridge, Katraj area.
During the operation, the police recovered a total of seven firearms and 23 rounds of ammunition, along with two vehicles and seven mobile phones believed to be used in the crime. The accused are currently in police custody for five days as the investigation continues.
The swift action by Lonikand Police, with the guidance of Commissioner of Police, Pune City, Amitesh Kumar, and other officials, likely prevented another fatal incident in the city. The investigation team, led by API Ravindra Godse, included dedicated officers from Lonikand Police Station who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of the public.
