Hey there Pune folks, we’ve got some news for you! The price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in your city has gone up by a whopping 90 paise per kg. Yep, you heard that right – it’s now Rs 85.90 per kg in Pune and surrounding areas like Pimpri-Chinchwad.

But hey, don’t worry too much because the rates of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) remain unchanged. So at least you’ve got that going for you, right?

The Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL), the ones supplying CNG to Pune and other areas, say that the increase is all thanks to the rising costs in the international natural gas market. Apparently, there’s a higher demand and import costs are on the rise, hence the price hike.

But fear not, CNG is still a cost-effective option compared to petrol and diesel. You’re looking at a 49% savings compared to petrol and a 27% saving compared to diesel. And if you’re a rickshaw driver, you’re in luck because you’ll save 29% using CNG instead of the traditional fuels.

This isn’t the first time the prices have gone up either. Back in July, there was a hike of Rs 1.50 per kg, which brought the rate to Rs 85 per kg. So yeah, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for those who made the switch to CNG.

And let’s be real, while CNG is still more affordable, these continuous price increases are definitely putting a strain on the pockets of Pune’s motorists and rickshaw drivers. So keep an eye out for any more changes and maybe start budgeting a little more for your fuel expenses. Stay safe out there on the roads, Pune!
