The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell is cracking down on 15 engineering colleges in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad for allegedly violating admission regulations. These colleges, including DY Patil College of Engineering and Indira College of Engineering and Management, are accused of admitting students to vacant seats before the completion of the regular admission rounds.

The CET Cell, which oversees engineering college admissions in Maharashtra, has set a deadline of September 9 for the third admission round. Any seats left unfilled after this date are supposed to be managed according to CET Cell guidelines. However, reports suggest that some colleges have been admitting students prematurely, potentially accepting lower marks in exchange for financial payments.

Kalpesh Yadav, joint secretary of Yuva Sena, filed a complaint with the CET Cell, prompting action from Commissioner Dilip Sardesai and DTE Director Dr. Vinod Mohitkar. Dattatray Jadhav from the Pune Divisional Office of DTE has issued notices to the colleges involved, demanding transparency in their admission procedures and warning of potential cancellations of illegal admissions.

This situation highlights the importance of following admission regulations and the ongoing efforts to maintain integrity in the educational admission process. It serves as a reminder that fairness and transparency should be upheld in all aspects of college admissions.
