Hey there, Pune just made a big move in the fight against COVID-19! The Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC) recently launched a groundbreaking COVID-19 database that contains data from 2000 patients in the city. This database is the first of its kind and is a result of collaboration between various stakeholders including hospitals, research organizations, and companies.

Dr. Priya Nagaraj, the CEO of Pune Knowledge Cluster, highlighted the importance of working together to solve national problems on a large scale. She mentioned that the database is a great example of how a cluster approach can be effective in bringing stakeholders together.

Dr. Rajesh Karyakarte, from B.J. Govt. Medical College, emphasized the significance of this database in contributing to medical research for infectious diseases. Dr. Ameet Dravid, from Noble Hospital, added that the world is in need of data and insights from this database can be utilized for understanding disease progression in real-time.

The database includes over 100 different clinical parameters collected from patient files, such as vitals, lab investigations, and pre-existing conditions like hypertension and diabetes. Dilip Deshmukh, from EPIC-HIM, discussed the challenges faced during the digitization process and stressed the importance of making the data easily analyzable and scalable for future additions.

The database is open source and available for all interested stakeholders to access on PKC’s website. The aim is to use insights from stakeholders to improve and expand the database into a more user-friendly version. This initiative is part of PKC’s efforts to leverage science and technology capabilities for the betterment of Pune city.

Exciting times for Pune as they take a step forward in medical research and data sharing! Check out the database on PKC’s website for more information.
