As Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, Pune’s markets are abuzz with activity as devotees get ready for the festivities. The demand for various items related to the celebrations has skyrocketed, with a special focus on Gaurai mukhavata (sculpted faces), jewelry, sarees, flowers, and fruits.

Women are particularly drawn to the decorative masks of Gaurai, available in materials like cloth, shadu, fiber, and POP. This year, the masks feature a new feta design, making them even more appealing. Prices for these masks range from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000.

In addition to the mukhavatas, the market is offering a wide range of jewelry options, including traditional designs, pearls, bangles, earrings, and one-gram gold sets. Prices for these jewelry items can go up to ₹6,000.

Gauri idols have been given a fresh look with the introduction of the Amaravati pattern. These elegant idols are available at prices ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹8,000.

The prices of flowers have also gone up due to high demand, with popular choices like hibiscus, marigold, shevanti, gerbera, Dutch rose, carnation, orchid, and gladiolus being in demand.

Fruits are a key component for worship and prasad, and there is a notable demand for bananas, apples, guavas, chikku, and pomegranates. Traders are expecting strong demand for apples and bananas throughout the festival period.

As Pune gets ready for Ganeshotsav, the markets are expected to remain vibrant and bustling with activity. It’s time to shop, celebrate, and enjoy the festive spirit!
