Hey Pune, big news coming your way! The Samruddhi Highway is set to be connected to the city with a brand new six-tier flyover. This proposed 53-km elevated road between Pune and Shirur will link up with the Samruddhi Highway via Ahmednagar and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, making travel easier and more convenient for everyone.

In a recent cabinet meeting, it was decided that the elevated route will start from Kesnand village near Pune and will cost an estimated ₹7,515 crore. But that’s not all – the plan also includes connecting this flyover to the Samruddhi Highway via Ahmednagar and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, requiring an additional ₹2,050 crore. This brings the total cost of the project to a whopping ₹9,565 crore.

The new six-tier elevated route will run parallel to the existing Pune Ahmednagar Highway and will span a total of 250 km. This revised route was proposed by the Public Works Department and approved in the cabinet meeting, paving the way for improvements to the Pune to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar National Highway.

Originally, the highway project was under the jurisdiction of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), but in April, it was transferred to the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC). Now, the project is being handled by MSIDC, with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde overseeing the developments.

Exciting times ahead for Pune as the city gets ready to be better connected than ever before!
