Viman Nagar, 11th September 2024: Good news for passengers with specific needs at Pune airport! AeroMall and airport authorities are teaming up to launch an assisted cab service at the new terminal. This service, set to start in a month, will cater to passengers in wheelchairs, women traveling alone with heavy luggage, children, and senior citizens.
Currently, taxis and autorickshaws can drop off passengers at the terminal, but pick-ups are not allowed, with hefty fines for violators. The new service will allow cabs to pick up passengers needing assistance right from the terminal building.
AeroMall Vice-President, YS Rajput, stated that they have received preliminary approval from airport authorities and will have a help counter in the new terminal. Passengers with genuine needs can approach them, and cabs will pick them up directly, eliminating the need to travel to AeroMall for a ride.
Currently, arriving passengers have to walk or use e-buses and golf carts to reach AeroMall’s cab pick-up point on the second floor, which has been a point of dissatisfaction for many flyers. In response to complaints, AeroMall recently moved its cab service to the first floor, but complaints still persist.
The upcoming assisted cab service is expected to address these concerns and improve the experience for passengers with special requirements.
