It was a scary evening for passengers aboard a PMPML electric bus that caught fire near 93 Avenue Mall at the Fatimanagar Chowk junction in Wanowrie. The bus, carrying 45 passengers from Dhayari to Hadapsar, had just crossed the Race Course on Pune-Solapur Road when some passengers noticed a burning smell. A quick-thinking two-wheeler rider flagged down the bus after seeing smoke coming from the vehicle.
The driver immediately pulled over, allowing all passengers to safely evacuate the bus. Despite efforts to put out the fire with the bus’s fire extinguisher, the flames persisted. The fire brigade was called in, and three fire engines were dispatched to the scene to control the fire.
