The hustle and bustle of the city was evident on Saturday as the Pune Metro experienced a surge in ridership. With over 175,000 passengers traveling between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., the metro had to extend its services until midnight to accommodate the high demand. This trend is expected to continue on Sunday, especially with Monday being declared a public holiday for Eid.

The busiest stations on Saturday were PMC and PCMC, with over 41,000 and 39,000 passengers respectively. Other stations such as Ramwadi, Deccan Gymkhana, and Pune Railway Station also saw significant foot traffic. In terms of revenue, the day brought in nearly ₹3 million, with Line 1 and Line 2 both seeing a high number of passengers.

The Pune Metro Authority is thrilled with the record-breaking ridership and expects to break this record again on September 18, the 10th day of Ganesh immersion. The metro will operate continuously for 24 hours to accommodate the influx of passengers during this festive period.
