The grand farewell of Pune’s first Ganpati mandal, Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati, was a sight to behold as the deity was paraded through the streets in a golden Mayurpankhi Rath. The chariot was beautifully decorated with roses and illuminated with ‘cold fire’, capturing the attention of thousands of devotees who gathered to witness the procession.

Acharya Swami Govind Giri Maharaj performed the morning worship of Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati Bappa before the deity embarked on its journey from Vighneshwar Wada to Mahatma Phule Mandai. The procession included the garlanding of five Manache Ganpatis on behalf of the trust.

In a progressive move, the Trustee Punit Balan decided to do away with the traditional use of bullocks to pull the Rath, opting instead for a specially built chariot after 132 years. The procession, led by Celebration Chief Punit Balan, featured a statue of Bhausaheb Rangari and traditional games, along with performances by Dhol-Tasha Pathaks.

As the procession made its way to Tilak Chowk, Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma performed the ‘Aarti’ before the deity proceeded for immersion. The emotional farewell to Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati marked the end of a successful celebration.

Punit Balan expressed his gratitude to all those involved in making the procession a success, including the police, civic administration, office-bearers, and workers. The immersion procession was held with enthusiasm and cooperation, culminating in a memorable event for all involved.
