Alright, folks, buckle up for the latest news from the streets of Pune! The Pune City Police recently went all out on a mission to crack down on drunk driving, and boy did they make a mark.

Over two days, on May 30 and May 31, the police were out in full force from midnight to the wee hours of the morning, making sure no tipsy motorists got away with endangering lives. Led by Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Joint CP Pravin Pawar, the operation covered 24 locations across 22 police stations in the Pune City Police Commissionerate.

Each checkpoint had a team of officers and constables armed with breathalyzers, ready to catch anyone who had a bit too much to drink before hitting the road. And catch they did! A whopping 154 motorists were charged with drunk driving out of the 2,573 vehicles that were checked. Talk about a successful operation!

But wait, there’s more. Along with the drunk driving charges, the police also nabbed 685 other violators for various offences, raking in fines worth over Rs 6 lakh. And get this, they collected a cool Rs 1.5 lakh on the spot during the checks. Now that’s some serious cash flow!

The Pune City Police aren’t stopping there though. They’ve announced plans for more sudden checks in the future, so if you’re thinking about hitting the bottle and then hitting the road in Pune, you might want to think again. Stay safe out there, folks, and remember, don’t drink and drive!
