So, folks, if you were in Pune yesterday, you probably witnessed the grand celebration of Anant Chaturdashi, which marked the end of Ganeshotsav 2024. It was a sight to behold as a total of 3,763 public Ganesh Mandals bid adieu to their beloved idols by immersing them in the water. But that’s not all, a whopping 10,14,637 domestic idols were also immersed throughout the event, showing the sheer scale of the festivities.

Let’s break it down for you – on the first day of immersion, 5 public Ganesh Mandals bid farewell to their idols, along with 88,163 domestic idols. The numbers kept increasing as the days went by, with the highest number of immersions happening on the 11th day, Anant Chaturdashi. A total of 2,714 public Ganesh Mandals immersed their idols, along with 3,30,641 domestic idols, making it a truly memorable day.

Now, if you’re wondering how all these mandals managed to navigate through the city for the immersion procession, well, they had four main routes to choose from – Laxmi Road, Tilak Road, Kumthekar Road, and NC Kelkar Road. These routes all led to the Alka Talkies Chowk, where the festivities culminated. Among these, Laxmi Road saw the highest number of processions with 131 mandals, followed by Tilak Road with 170, Kumthekar Road with 54, and NC Kelkar Road with 97.

The immersion procession began at 10:15 AM yesterday and continued until 3:00 PM today, making it a total of 28 hours and 45 minutes long. It was a truly spectacular event that brought the city together in celebration and devotion.
