Hey there, Pune peeps! Exciting news on the electricity front – a whopping 13,677 applications have been given the green light under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the Pune circle. This scheme is all about providing free electricity for around 25 years to households and residential complexes. How cool is that?

So far, 1,391 solar projects have been set up in Pune city, 771 in Pimpri Chinchwad, and 586 in various talukas. Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar shared that a total of 2,748 rooftop solar power projects have been completed, bringing the combined capacity to 13.73 MW. And guess what? The monthly electricity bills for these lucky consumers are now zero!

But wait, there’s more – an additional 460 rooftop solar projects are in the works. The scheme allows households to generate free electricity each month, ranging from 120 to 360 units. Plus, there are loan facilities available from banks at discounted rates to help set up these solar projects.

Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis is all on board with this initiative. MSEDCL is giving automatic approval for applications up to 10 kW, along with solar net meters. Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar is calling on more domestic consumers to join in on the fun.

And get this – there are subsidies up for grabs! Domestic consumers can get Rs 30,000 for one kilowatt, Rs 60,000 for two kilowatts, and up to Rs 78,000 for three kilowatts and above. Housing associations can also benefit from subsidies for electric vehicle charging stations. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved!

So, if you’re a Pune resident looking to save on electricity bills and do your part for the environment, now’s the time to jump on the solar power bandwagon. Let’s light up Pune with some renewable energy!
