Yerwada, 21st September 2024: Traffic congestion at the Sangamwadi junction in Yerawada has become a major headache for commuters, prompting the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to consider building a grade separator or flyover to ease the situation.

The junction, also known as Sadalbaba Dargah Chowk, is a crucial point where four important roads meet – Sangamwadi, the airport, Yerawada, and Deccan College. With the ongoing diversions at Sadhu Vaswani Chowk, many drivers have started using Sangamwadi Chowk as an alternate route, leading to a surge in traffic.

Local leaders, including former corporator Sanjay Bhosale, have been urging the PMC to address the issue. Bhosale highlighted the daily nightmare that residents face due to the increasing number of vehicles on the roads.

The junction is not just a headache for regular commuters but also serves as a major stop for MSRTC and luxury buses traveling to Marathwada and Vidarbha, further adding to the congestion.

PMC officials have taken note of the concerns and are currently exploring various solutions to improve traffic flow at the junction. Options being considered include building a grade separator or flyover and widening existing roads to accommodate more vehicles, especially for left turns.

In light of the increasing traffic woes, timely action is essential to ensure smoother commutes for residents and travelers passing through the area. Stay tuned for updates on the proposed developments at the Sangamwadi junction.
