As the monsoon season approaches, the city of Pune is gearing up for pre-monsoon preparations to ensure smooth functioning during heavy rains. Despite claims of 100% completion, work is still ongoing in various areas such as Kothrud, Karve Road, Katraj, and Ambegaon. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has set a deadline of June 10 for the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Pune Metro, NHAI, and PWD to finish their pre-monsoon work within PMC limits.

In a recent pre-monsoon review meeting, PMC’s additional municipal commissioner emphasized the importance of coordination among departments to complete the necessary tasks on time. The stakeholders, including representatives from different departments, were urged to collaborate and ensure that the pre-monsoon preparations are finished by the given deadline.

Despite the progress made in cleaning nalas, drainage lines, stormwater drains, and chambers, there are still areas where work is pending. The PMC is particularly focused on addressing flood-prone areas like Kondhawe-Dhawade, Uttam Nagar, and Shivane to prevent any disruptions caused by recurrent flooding during the monsoon season.

The superintendent engineer of the drainage department at PMC highlighted the ongoing work from Kharadi to Wagholi and emphasized the importance of completing tasks in critical areas to prevent waterlogging. Specific measures and recommendations have been issued to enhance the efficiency of the drainage system and minimize any potential disruptions during the monsoon.

Overall, efforts are being made to ensure that the city is well-prepared for the upcoming monsoon season, with various departments working together to complete the necessary pre-monsoon work.
