Pune is in the midst of a road crisis as potholes continue to plague the city, causing frustration among citizens and drawing ire from top officials. President Droupadi Murmu was recently in Pune and expressed her disappointment over the poor road conditions during her visit. The President’s office has reportedly conveyed their displeasure to the Pune Police, putting the state administration in a tight spot.

To add to the pressure, the Pune Police have written to the Municipal Commissioner to urgently address the issue of potholes before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the city on September 26. The deteriorating road conditions have led to increased congestion in many areas, making commuting a nightmare for residents.

One of the major trouble spots is the Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi Metro route on Ganeshkhind Road, where construction work is currently underway. Despite numerous meetings involving the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and the police, the road condition has shown little improvement.

As Pune grapples with these road woes, residents are hoping for urgent action to be taken to improve the city’s infrastructure and make commuting a smoother experience for all.
