Today, the first step towards renaming Pune’s international airport as ‘Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Pune International Airport’ has been taken. The proposal given by you has been approved by the state government. This proposal holds great significance as Sant Tukaram had a deep connection to the region, being born and raised in Lohegaon where the airport is located. He played a crucial role in promoting Bhagwat Dharma and inspiring societal change, which still resonates today. The state government will now forward the approved proposal to the central government, with decisions expected from the central cabinet soon. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has also shown support for the renaming and mentioned discussing the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speed up the process.
