Hello Pune! Exciting news coming your way – local Kathak dancer Annwesa Singh recently wowed audiences at the 13th International Cultural Olympiad of Performing Arts in Paris. Collaborating with UNESCO, the Akhil Bhartiya Sanskrutik Sangh (ABSS) selected Annwesa to represent Pune in this prestigious event, where she secured second place among 170 contestants.

Annwesa’s performance included traditional Kathak elements like Zaptaal, Tintaal, and Tatkaar, showcasing the rich cultural and spiritual journey of this classical dance form. Her dance was based on Ganesh Kavit, composed by the renowned Pandit Divyang Vakil. In France, she was honored by Kathak pioneer Sharmila Sharma and Henry Turner, a disciple of the legendary flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.

This is not the first time Annwesa has been recognized for her talent. She has received numerous awards, including a bronze medal at last year’s Olympiad, Nritya Vaibhavi Award, Nritya Shiromani Award, Shri Mahatma Gandhi Rashtriya Gaurav Award, Nritya Vibhushan Award, Shri Hari Nritya Ratna Samman Award, Pillars of Maharashtra 2023, and Best Indian Classical Dancer 2023.
