Pune residents have something to look forward to as the Maharashtra State Government has given the go-ahead to rename Pune International Airport to ‘Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Airport.’ This decision was made during a recent cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and is now awaiting final approval from the Central Government.

In a social media post, Chief Minister Shinde shared the exciting news along with updates on various schemes and benefits for the public. Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, also took to social media to announce that the proposal to rename the airport as ‘Jagadguru Santshrestha Tukaram Maharaj Pune International Airport’ has been approved by the state government.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who played a crucial role in getting the proposal approved, discussed the renaming during a visit to Pune and successfully got it passed in the cabinet’s first meeting after his announcement. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed his support for the renaming and has assured that the Central Government will also support the decision.

Mohol confirmed that the renaming process is already in progress, and soon Pune International Airport will be known by its new name, honoring the revered Sant Tukaram Maharaj.
