Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has recently made an announcement that has sparked excitement among students who were previously facing obstacles in completing their degrees. The university has declared a final opportunity for students whose Permanent Registration Number (PRN) was blocked after the conclusion of their academic session.

This decision comes in response to student protests demanding a chance to clear their backlogs and obtain their degrees. However, the re-examination option will only be available to specific groups of students meeting certain eligibility criteria.

To be considered for the re-examination, students must be in their final or pre-final year and have backlogs to clear. This means that those who have backlogs spanning two or more years will not be eligible for this opportunity. The re-examination schedule will take place during the winter session of 2024 and the summer session of 2025.

Eligible students are advised to submit their applications through their respective colleges along with any required medical documents. It is crucial for students to register for exams with equivalent subjects as per the regular or annual course pattern.

SPPU has directed colleges to provide proper guidance and counseling to students regarding the PRN issue and ensure that no student is deprived of this final chance due to delays in applying or lack of information. Dr. Mahesh Kakade, Director of the Examination and Evaluation Board at SPPU, has stressed the importance of colleges ensuring that every eligible student avails of this opportunity.

In response to technical difficulties faced by students during the application process, SPPU Management Council member Sagar Vaidya has requested a 3-4 day extension to the application deadline. This extension would accommodate students who encountered challenges due to heavy rains across the state. An official declaration from SPPU on this matter is expected soon.

Overall, this final opportunity provided by SPPU serves as a lifeline for students striving to complete their degrees and move forward in their academic and professional pursuits.
