The much-anticipated Pune Metro Phase 1 project has taken a significant step forward with the inauguration of the Swargate to District Court section. The Prime Minister himself flagged off the inaugural train, emphasizing the importance of this new underground section in easing traffic congestion and enhancing urban mobility in Pune.

But that’s not all. The foundation stone for the Swargate-Katraj Metro Extension was also laid during the ceremony. This extension, part of Phase 1 of the metro project, will include three underground stations—Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj—expanding the city’s metro network even further.

During his speech, PM Modi didn’t shy away from criticizing the previous state government for their inaction on metro development. He highlighted the delays in urban development and the lack of planning and vision that hindered the progress of metro infrastructure in Pune. But now, with the completion of the modern metro station, it’s clear that the current government is committed to improving public transportation in the city.

In addition to the metro developments, PM Modi also dedicated the Bidkin Industrial Area to the nation. This industrial area, covering a vast expanse of land, aims to boost the region’s industrial sector and contribute to economic growth.

And let’s not forget about the revamped Solapur Airport, which was also inaugurated by the Prime Minister. The expanded terminal building will now be able to accommodate a larger number of passengers, benefiting those traveling to Solapur for various purposes, including religious pilgrimages.

Last but not least, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Savitribai Phule Memorial at Bhidewada, commemorating the historic First Girls’ School established by the pioneering educator.

Overall, these developments signify a major push for Maharashtra’s infrastructure growth and urban modernization. With a focus on improving regional connectivity and industrial potential, the government is paving the way for a brighter future for the state.
