On World Heart Day, a significant event took place in Pune as Minister Nitin Jairam Gadkari inaugurated the Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) Social Media Platform. This virtual event, hosted on Zoom, brought together cardiac surgeons from all over the country, emphasizing the importance of heart health awareness in India.
The newly launched Social Media Platform aims to bridge the gap in knowledge sharing by providing insights into preventive measures, medical expertise, and treatment options for heart patients. By connecting healthcare professionals and empowering patients with valuable information, the platform strives to make a positive impact on heart health in the country.
During his inaugural address, Minister Gadkari stressed the need to educate the public about preventive health measures, particularly focusing on heart disease prevention. He also called upon Indian doctors to develop cost-effective solutions for healthcare challenges, emphasizing the importance of finding Indian solutions for health remedies.
Dr. Manoj Durairaj, President of IACTS and a renowned heart transplant surgeon from Pune, shared his vision for the platform, highlighting its potential to showcase the achievements of Indian cardiac surgeons globally. He emphasized the platform’s role as an educational resource for healthcare providers and the general public, guiding patients on their health journeys.
Dr. Satyajit Bose, Junior Vice President of IACTS, emphasized the theme “Strong Hearts, Calmer Minds,” reflecting the initiative’s mission to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their heart health. He underlined the goal of educating the masses on heart disease prevention and ensuring quality healthcare for all.
Dr. Anand Sancheti, a past president of IACTS, acknowledged the collective efforts that made the launch of the Social Media Platform possible. The inaugural event was attended by IACTS executive members and various other members, highlighting the association’s strong network.
Dr. C.S. Hiremath, Secretary of IACTS, expressed the association’s commitment to enhancing communication around heart health through the platform. He emphasized the importance of increased awareness in promoting better healthcare for all individuals.
