Tragedy struck a glass factory in Pune city today as four workers lost their lives and two others were seriously injured when a large glass box collapsed on them. The incident, which took place at India Glass Solutions in Yewalewadi, has raised concerns about safety measures in industrial setups.
The victims have been identified as Pawan Ramchandra Kumar, Dhamendra Satyapal Kumar, Vikas Prasad Gautam, and Amit Shivshankar Kumar, all residents of Yewalewadi. The injured workers, Jagatpal Santaram Saroj and Moneshwar, are currently receiving medical treatment.
Fire brigade officials were quick to respond to the accident, using cranes to rescue the trapped workers. Unfortunately, four workers were declared dead upon arrival at Sassoon Hospital, while the injured workers are in critical condition.
The cause of death was determined to be suffocation and cardiac arrest resulting from the weight and injuries caused by the falling glass. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities looking into whether safety protocols were being followed at the time of the accident.
The owner of the glass factory, Hussain Tayyabali Mithawala, is cooperating with authorities as they work to determine the cause of the tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims during this difficult time.
