The Maratha reservation issue in Pune has been causing quite a stir lately, with tensions running high between Maratha and OBC activists. Things took a nasty turn on Monday night when OBC leader Laxman Hake was allegedly manhandled in the Katraj-Kondhwa area after being accused of consuming alcohol. A video of the incident quickly made its way around social media, adding fuel to the fire.
The whole thing started when Maratha protesters confronted Hake on Katraj-Kondhwa Road about a controversial statement he had made regarding former MP Sambhaji Chhatrapati. Tempers flared, with some protesters claiming that Hake was drunk at the time. Hake was then taken to Kondhwa police station where Maratha activists demanded that he undergo a medical examination to confirm if he had indeed been drinking.
Initial tests came back negative for alcohol, but further testing is being done to be sure. In the meantime, a case has been filed against 20-25 Maratha protesters based on Hake’s complaint. No charges have been brought against Hake as of now, but the situation is still unfolding. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
