Hey Pune folks, have you heard about the latest news from the Regional Transport Office (RTO)? They are cracking down on school vans and buses to ensure the safety of students after a recent incident of sexual assault on two minor girls in a school van. It’s great to see them taking action to protect our kids!
The RTO has deployed 10 teams with 20 officers and staff members to inspect school buses and vans. They are making sure that these vehicles are following all safety rules, including having women attendants on board. They are also meeting with school principals to assess the overall transportation system for students.
Did you know that under the School Student Transport Rules, schools are required to have a School Transport Committee? This committee includes representatives from the police, RTO, and parents. To keep track of compliance with safety regulations, a website called schoolbussafetypune.org has been set up for schools to submit details about their transport systems.
Regional Transport Officer Archana Gaikwad emphasized the importance of following these rules, stating that any violations will be reported to the Education Department for further action. So, if you see any school buses or vans breaking the rules, make sure to report it to the RTO at [email protected]
Let’s all work together to ensure the safety of our children on their way to school!
