Pune, known for its vibrant culture and bustling city life, has been facing a troubling trend in recent months. Sexual assault cases against women are on the rise, with an alarming number of incidents being reported almost daily.
According to recently released data on crime against women, a staggering 265 rape and 450 molestation cases were registered in Pune from February to August this year. These numbers paint a grim picture of the safety of women in the city.
In response to the escalating crisis, the Pune Police have taken measures to enhance the security and safety of women and children. Various squads such as Damini Pathak, Police Kaka, and Police Didi have been formed to address the issue. However, despite these efforts, an average of 38 rape and 65 molestation cases are still being reported every month.
The statistics are both disturbing and shocking, raising serious concerns about the overall safety of women in Pune. The question remains: Is Pune really safe for women? The city authorities and law enforcement agencies must take decisive action to address this pressing issue and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
